This vibrant woman was introduced to hiphop dancing at a young age. Breakin' was the form she took to her interest. She mostly vibed off of male dancers
around her, never experiencing being around woman dancers. Nevertheless,
it made her a very powerful dancer, and made her who she is today.
She didn't begin to take dancing seriously until 6 years ago. Going to
local bboy events, night clubs in Philly and Jersey area, and random practice
sessions around town.
Smiles recently joined Chosen Dance Company in 2003-2004, founded by Clyde Evans Jr.,
and has grown immensely in her style. Learning poppin', lockin', house, old school
hiphop, bboyin' and the techniques of becoming a true performer. Practicing long hours
everynight, going to lectdems around the Philly area, and rehearsing her part for the
performances she's been in. She's also danced with Versitile, a local hiphop group
from Germantown, PA. Being a part of lectdems around the Philly area, commercials and performed
for the 4th of July parade. Picking up some training with Montazh, an all female
hiphop company, this being the first time she's vibed off of all women dance company. She's
currently with Face Da Phlave since its been founded, putting hard work in all forms of hiphop
which shows in her dancing. Staying humble, full of funkiness and heartfelt to dancing, she's
learned to respect and feel the true meaning of hiphop culture throughout her mind, body and soul.
You can catch her at the gathering, rocrite events, both in Philly, bboy and lockin events and any
upcoming Face Da Phlave performances, which you won't want to miss. She's one of a kind and her
intentions are to be an inspiration to those who enjoy and respect the foundation of the hiphop
culture.
